Mike Birnbaum is a Brooklyn-based song writer, producer, drummer/guitarist & illustrator. He was trained in music production and technology at the Hartt School of Music in Connecticut. His latest album Pureocracy (under the moniker Sickpay) is filled with ecstatic anthems for our era and brings together the high energy of rock, punk, grunge and pop.

Mike has written seven other albums of electronic pop and reggae under the moniker D. Gookin. His hit song Glad I Met You has been downloaded more than 1.5 million times on Spotify. His song Remember was used in an Oil of Olay commercial and another song, Croak, was on an episode of Broad City. Mike has produced for Pictureplane, 2 Ton Bug and other NY artists. He was also the lead drummer for Juiceboxxx and 2Ton Bug and has drummed for other local bands. He toured with Juiceboxxx all over the United States and in Europe.

Mike is sought after for his artwork by a wide range of musicians and has illustrated his own album covers, posters, fliers and social media posts.
